Recipe: How to Make Dalgona Coffee

March 9, 2023

Most people heard about Dalgona Coffee during the COVID-19 pandemic, when going to restaurants and cafés was no longer an option and, well, people were forced to get creative at home. This creamy, delicious beverage gets its name from ‘dalgona’, a type of Korean sugar candy, because of its sweetness and toffee-coloured appearance. As TikTokers and YouTubers learned, Dalgona Coffee is surprisingly simple to make and does not require any special equipment - most people use a standard whisk to manually beat the coffee until it forms its signature foamy peaks, while some people choose to use an electric mixer to speed up the process. Ready to give it a try? Here is the Stardust guide to making a Dalgona Coffee at home (you can also watch our video tutorial).

What do you need?

Mixing bowl

Whisk (or electric mixer)

Coffee cup

Milk (dairy or plant-based)

Ice (optional)

2 x tablespoons of sugar (white or brown)

2 x tablespoons of hot water

2 x Stardust Adventure Coffee sachets

What’s next?

1. Add the sachets of Stardust coffee into the mixing bowl, followed by the sugar and hot water.

2. Using a handheld whisk or electric mixer, beat the mixture until it gets light and fluffy. If you’re whisking the mixture manually, this process can take a few minutes so you’ll need to be patient - it’ll be worth it.

3. Prepare your coffee cup by adding some ice (if you don’t want a cold Dalgona Coffee, simply leave out the ice) and adding your milk of choice. You can fill your cup with up to two thirds milk, but the amount you use is really up to. Just leave enough space for the whipped coffee to go on top!

4. Gently spoon the whipped coffee into your coffee cup.
